Function+F4 and dual display

Hey all
First post here, hope you can help me.
My dad owns the dv6160ea, until yesterday he used the Function+F4 key to switch between displays (He has a projector) but now for some odd reason he is no longer able to, when he clicks the Fnc+F4 the two monitors image pops up but the display doesn't change. If i change it manually trough the "view" control panel the Function + F4 will change the display back to "Single mode" . It seems that the Fnc+f4 only changes the display to single mode from other modes and stuck there. I've tried a few Nvidia drivers including the latest .. im wondering if any one ever had to deal with that sort of problem.

im sorry, maybe i wasn't clear.
i can change displays if i click on the nvidia panel, but the Fnc+F4 only changes it to single display instead of going back and forth.

is this the only Fn key that is not working correctly?

yes, it works but only one way. all the other Fn keys are ok.
One other things i've noticed is that i can't edit the Fn keys configuration in the control panel. is that normal?
