Does anyone have a list of compatible memory for MacBooks? All types and brands would be nice.

Any PC5300 memory should work.

I can confirm the RAM from Crucial Memory works and is cheap. Have had no problems with it and going to 2GB put the spring back into my MBP and VMware Fusion programs.

if im understanding correctly the regular macbooks only support up to 2gb right?

The Core Duo Macbooks only supported up to 2GB, the Core 2 Duo ones can read up to 3.3GB of 4GB if you were to use 2*2GB. And like kakaze said, you need
