9300 Ebay Battery: Not Recognized

I just bought a battery off ebay and replaced my old worn out battery that no longer held a charge. When the computer starts up, the bios displays a message that the battery is not recognized and that it will not charge properly. However, when I unplug the laptop it runs fine off the battery. What does the bios actually look for in the battery that it will "recognize" it? Are there any updates/hacked bios out there to fix this?

Are you running the newest Bios version for your Laptop?

I have not updated the bios at all. I do not have the laptop in front of me right now (I am at work) but I will check the version with the latest when I get home. I did contact the seller about the problem and here is the response I got:

"This is not original branded. Can you go ahead to charge it 8 hours and fully dishcarge it, repeate for 3-4 times , you may need to change power management of your notebook so it won't auto shut down when low power. Please continue and retry"

The system says it will not even charge the battery, so I don't see how this will work, but I will attempt this when I get home. I will post an update once I have completed these things. If anyone has any other suggestions I am open to trying those as well. Thanks!

Contact the seller, see if he'll replace the battery for you. Sounds like it might be defective.

I'm having a weird problem with my Inspiron 630m. Battery is not charging all of a sudden, and I'm getting a Quickset message saying 'your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge'. I have updated BIOS, but no joy.
