- Open disk Utility

When the image is open you can put stuff into it. Close it and it locks and to open it again just input the password again.

interesting. is that feature part of 10.5 only? or has it been there? anyways, thx for the info!

been there for a while.

The only thing different in Leopard is that you now have 256bit AES encryption as an option, in addition to the 128bit already offered in Tiger.

thanks for the answers.

i have another question. in windows, I have the "classic menu" and setup a series of folders above the "programs" folder in the start menu, since windows automatically use the first key of the folder or item name as the shortcut, it creates a very quick "program launcher" for me. So for example, ctrl-esc, I, M starts mozilla firefox; ctrl-esc, I, I starts IE; ctrl-esc, D, P starts photoshop.. I hope some of you mac users at least use windows sometime during your normal day so you'd understand what i'm talking about.. heh heh.

anyways, i'm wondering, is there something like this in mac? or something that i can configure to use keyboard only to start applications (that does not interfere with any applications already in the foreground) ?

thanks again!

Well, there is Quicksilver, which in Tiger is apparently the preferred way to launch apps via the keyboard, however, Spotlight in Leopard is greatly improved, and you can use it as an App launcher.

Command + Spacebar is the keyboard shortcut for spotlight. Just type the name of the application and hit enter when its found.

Now that sound pretty cool.

Anyone tried to use the MACBOOK PRO w/o OSX on there and just plan XP or Vista?

I like the Mac design, but prefer Windows since I am used to it.

Its possible. But people don't like to fork out the extra money if you're just gonna use Windows XP or Vista on it.

Lots of people do similar.

that is true. but apple does a nice job of protecting the hardware inside the units. they take a little bit of patience to work on but they are well built units. those motherboards do not flex inside there at all!
