How will it go? Crysis. - Page 6

Here's my specs.

Inspiron 9400
1.83 Ghz Yonah
2 Ghz 667 DDR Ram
7950 GTX 512MB
7200 RPM 160GB HD
Windows Vista 32-bit
169.01 Drivers

I can only run Crysis in 1024x640 with most effects on high cept shaders on medium, physics and shadows on low, textures on high. Get on average in dense brush with far draw distance about 23-25 fps. Quite disappointed considering I can run Stalker in 1920x1200 Max settings on everything.

At 1280x800 I got:
about 10 fps with high detail - came down to 2 if i made rapid turns
about 15 to 25 fps with medium detail - playable but painful
about 20 to 40 fps with low detail (most of the time 30) - I finished the demo on these settings, but it looked like crap

Then i went down on the res to 1000x600 (dont remeber exactly) a set the details to med (except for shadows, those were low). This resulted in 20-30 fps with an avg of 25. Plus it didnt look like total crap.

As if for me this games doesnt seem finished. Both code optimization and proper video drivers. And if it is - than thanks, i'll pass. It will have to wait for a better rig...

Btw, i installed the new beta drivers 169.01, but they changed nothing. I took them from laptopvideo2go.com. Did they work for any of you?

Definitley worth trying the new 169.04 driver. I would say i got a 10fps boost. I can now run at 1024x768 with all HIGH at about 25fps. Thats on a bios modded 7900gs with a core2 duo t5600

It didnt help me at all, same as the last 169's. I cant wait to put XP on this thing and see how it goes.

I'm running Crysis decently well on my dell. I'm running 94.20 Xtreme-G drivers.
I have resolution set at 1280x800, all settings on medium except for physics, texture detail, and post processing, which are all set on high.
I'm pulling low 20 frame-rates consistently, and the game looks awesome.
Looking carefully at the textures, the detail, and all the other graphical improvements even at such a low resolution, I can definitely say it looks better than any other game right now easily.

20 fps in a shooter is just unacceptable to me.

I personally cannot deal with anything less than about 30fps and enjoy playing. I mean, the game story would have to be 5 times as amazing for me to play a game at 20fps

so has anyone tried this game with their m1730? if so, how are the framerates and at what detail level do you play it on?

I think everybody just has different tolerances somewhat based on the eyes, some people can't stand below 50, and i personally start to notice at under 30, however the lower you can go, the better

I loaded up a savegame to test the drivers (should've used the built in benchmark) and I didn't see any difference between 84.63, 92.77, 156.55, and 169.04 on my 7800 GTX Go.

In defense of my crappy testing method, I don't think I really care about average framerates as much as increasing the bottom end, and none of these drivers did that. So, I have to conclude that my laptop is the bottleneck here.
