Battery times....

Okay, this would be nice to have in one spot, in order for everyone to compare between the two.

What are the run times on battery for the 5660 (with one battery and with the modular bay battery)?

What is the run time for the 8887?

I really want to see the true difference between the single battery and two in there at once on the 5660. Thanks alot.

Ah yes, this question.

5660: one batt: approx 1.5 hrs
5660: two batt: approx 2.5-3 hrs
8887: one batt: approx 2-2.5 hrs.

In reality, I am getting about 1.5 hrs with my 8887-X with HT enabled and normal usage while the battery is discharging. If I just let it idle and do nothing it gets a little over 2 hrs.

You see, that's what I want, are actual testimonials by users who have experienced the actual run times. I know what the estimated times are, but those don't mean much when they aren't true. Thanks.

Mostly close to estimates

I have a 5660 and here are my results :-

Variety of usage conditions and the corresponding battery life.
Note that all these results are with the dual battery set up :

1] Games : 1 hour and 50 minutes to 2 hours and 25 minutes
2] Word Processing : 2 hours and 50 minutes to 3 hours and 15 minutes
3] DVD full screen : 2 hours and 10 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes
4] DVD window : 2 hours and 20 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes
5] Internet : 2 hours and 45 minutes
6] CD Writing : 2 hours and 10 minutes

the low and high times are arrived at using various settings in the Power Management in XP and also by using throttling and Powerstrip to underclock the CPU and DDR. I used various combinations to arrive at certain profiles that I use.

I have uninstalled powerstrip since and I havent tested since then but these values should be accurate. You may take a conservative view if you like : +/- 10 minutes either way.

A lot depends on battery maintenance, cycling etc.

Cheers!!

Just Curious

Is there any other place you could buy a single battery with longer life? Like some type of aftermarket computer store.
