A tipster sent us PDF document which looked like an outline of features for Battlefield 3. The three page document is apparently prepared for investors which should get it by December of this year. It details basic features of BF3, and are as listed:

- Release in late 2008
- Powered by “Frostbite DX”
- Set in year modern day (just like BF2, ed.)
- Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
- Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
- Same “ticket-based” gameplay style as before
- Maps are mostly urban, based in Middle East
- Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are “Battalions” which consist of three to four squads.
- Five playable classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support
- Will feature 48 different vehicles (24 for each faction)
- Will feature 34 different weapons (17 for each faction) and another 22 unlocks (for both factions), in total 56 different weapons.
- Other unlocks include different types of ammunition, body armor, helmets, camouflage and accessories.
- Possible public beta in “Summer 2008″
- Online stats tracking, awards and “real world ranks”
- “Soldier” feature, looks like MMO-styled characters and avatars
- Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships (for testing, apparently, ed.)
- In-game replay and recording feature
- VoIP, friends list, in-game IM-client and “extensive clan support”
- Built-in auto software updater (no more patches!, ed.)
- Widows Vista and OS X (no XP?!, ed.)
- Announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008.

more here.

me too.

I always had fun playing BF2 on NBF's servers, even if the game would crash to desktop every few rounds.

Is BF3 going to have that crap installer like BF2142? One of the main reasons why I stayed away from that game because if I'm going to pay you f**ken money for the game I don't want a security feature tracking everything about me.

Hopefully they fix their physics Engine, it really bothers me these days that you can't strafe an object, meaning you should pretty much ALWAYS stand still while firing your weapon at other objects if you want to hit at all. (I understand that your accuracy should be dropped off, however when they throw nades you have no choice, and you pretty much have a zero chance probabilty of hitting while moving) Don't belive me? try walking in circles around a stop sign while firing shots at the sign and NON will hit, while if you stand still you'll hit it. There is really no Explanation for that happening.

I'm not really a fan on how Nades and Claymores work, but that's another entire differnt story.

Well, on the topic of realism in the game, I think that grenades are about appropriate, killing things within about 5 feet of the grenade. As for strafe fire, I agree, when you run while spraying, you hit NOTHING, you'll be lucky if 10 out of 30 shots hit the side of the wall you're 10 feet away from which is just irrational. I like your comparison of shooting at a stop sign running around it, because even being 3 feet away from your target you can still miss them quite a few times if you spray or are moving around.

I also agree that this all needs to be fixed.

the entire engine in general is crap.

No I'm just saying that the way the gernade system works and how Support Can Spam them in infantry games. Basically Gun Fights, which in the begining I thought seemed realistic are becoming more and more UNrealistic, especially in Infantry Only Servers. The way a Support guy just spams Gernades from an over top, or the way People are just using cheap abilities to get kills is taking away from the OVERALL experiance of the game. Infantry Only Server today are nothing close to what I envisioned of them being when they were first released.

For instance why are people playing Engineer or Anti Tank in Infantry Only Servers. <--- No matter how you answer that question, it really takes away from the whole experiance, and is more of a flaw or downfall of the game compared to anything else. (Maybe not engineer, but how I'm able to no-scope with an Sraw and own people in hallways is really bad) And if all else fails you switch to the dao, and it's all over. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bad at this game at all, but it's far from what it could be, has MASSIVE potential though.

Ahh yeah I totally agree, I find nade spamming INCREDIBLY annoying. Plus, in a resupply pouch you wouldn't have grenades anyway. Also I know what you're saying about the SRAW, I find it very annoying to get blown up by one of those cheaply in a hall or w/e.
Well sometimes when you see the nade or you see the claymore the whole death thing is weird. If it was Instant, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but often I feel it's delayed. Now I know on Gernades it's suppose to be delayed but claymores work really werid. I mean sometimes you see it, and you're like OH $hit Claymore! and you move, yet you die. It's just too weird. And when you're in the open you see the nade and you run and you still die, and sometimes you can't help but feel something is off. I swear the main problem is the cover system. It's pretty much there or not there, no in between. You either have Full Cover, or NO Cover. Moderate Cover doesn't exsist, and sometimes it leads to many many questions.

I haven't played BF2 much but I have a few comments. 1) Nades usually have a blast radius or around 5 meters, not feet. 2) Has anyone here tried to strafe or run and shoot in real life.....not easy at all. That is why soldiers are trained to get cover and take 1 or 2 quick shots after AIMING. Just saying this b/c some ppl. are complaining about realism of the game.
I think you should be able to hit a stop sign. And whatever I'm not complaing about realism I'm complaining about the lack of Physics when compared to something like Counter Strike, there I said it.

BF2 is loaded with rag dolls what are you talking about? Have you not been hit with an Artillary shell?
