Absolutely no one knows when this is releasing, then, eh? Christmas would be nice, but Crysis is here NOW, dammit! What drivers is everyone with the 1730 using for the 8700M SLI?

Seeing as the 8800m GTX is a mobile part, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it performs worse than the desktop version. Heck, I'd be impressed if it can match the 8800GT in performance. Dell is known to underclock their cards so they play nicely in the confined spaces of a laptop (I still have the original 7800go in my laptop). Hopefully nvidia is using the new 65nm process and as many stream processors as possible.

Guess we'll all see next week (not that I'm in the market for one, but I like to stay in the loop).

It is Alienware of course.

But I hope that very affordable pricing for the 8800GT (or at least what nVidia had wanted the market pricing to be) trickles down to mobile parts.

Theres a good chance were going to see a slower 8800 variant on the 1500,1520,1700,1720 come launch of the 8800 card.

That's a good point. With many of the early 1730 owners out there as well as the other brands, who's gonna want to buy the 8700 when the 8800 is fully availible? Not many I would say, and for the few who do buy it's gotta be cheap!!

BTW, why does your signature say you own the XPS Blue m1370?

Thats one reason why I get a big LOL out of people who rush out to buy the latest system/electronics. The first revisions almost always have flaws/early upgrades and so when they roll around (like in this case the 8800m GTX) the people who went out and shot up a ton of money to be one of the first people to have it" get shafted. Sure theres gonna be an upgrade program for all the people who bought the M1730 when it only had the 8700 in it, but its not gonna be free by a long shot. You really think Dell would just take all those 8700s back and just swap them out for 8800m GTXs? What are they gonna do with all the returned 8700s? They can't stick them in new systems, and they can't really sell them as a spare part yet because anyone who has their 8700 die on them will still be under warranty for a while. Just my $0.02 on all the M1730s out there so far.

i hope whatever comes after the 8800 hopefully the 8900 will be mxm too and bios etc cause that'll be the real dx10 single card.

Why would you care about MXM lol? You are using a Dell.

Since November 19th is hours away, who will be among the first shipping the 8800M GTX? Will Dell and Alienware be? Please post the links to what you find here. Here is one I found.

Alienware is almost guaranteed due to their accidental leak of the information as well as their recent 'top secret' announcement. Since they are in fact Dell, I would suspect Dell will also be announcing on the same day.

Depending on the agreements nVidia and Dell made, others should be announcing on the same date or very shortly thereafter.

Actually shipping? I have no idea.

I'm convinced that you would be very lucky if you could get one before Christmas. Especially if you wanted to upgrade your current. (1730)

PC MicroWorks has been offering the 8800 for the last 3 days. However the ship date isn't until Dec.

I am going to compare Dell, Alienware, PC MicroWorks and Sager before buying.

I would really like to see some actual spec's and tests run on the SLI 8800's before I spend 5K.
