FYI for those that don't know yet...Here is a tip to get rid of all the intro movies & rating garbage in the Demo & the MP Beta:

go to your crysis dir\game\config\localized\video\

delete the videos & you have instant access to the game.

Hey thanks Sol, I was wondering how you do that.

I'm in a debate with another guy in the FRAPS benchmark thread about if there's any optimization left in this game. Will the final release run any better, or should we expect it to run the same? The reason I ask is because the cinematic even runs at a low frame rate for me, whereas game cinematics usually run nicely.

I expect there are optimizations that were not in place at the time the demo was released. In addition there will be plenty of tweaks for the cfg files.

Something else...Thought you could only enjoy very high settings in Vista?

If you tweak the configuration files in \CVarGroups\ by copying and pasting the "very high" settings (1st paragraph) IN PLACE of the "high" settings (last paragraph) the game will load the highest possible settings even though the drop-down menus display "high."

The difference between "high" settings and the tweaked settings is immense: shadows are deeper, more realistic; the leaves have better reflective properties, better textures; the colours are better; and the level of detail is simply stunning.

Well after reading all that`s been said about this game and how hard it taxes hardware I won`t even bother trying it on my 9400, I will give it a try on my desktop when I get some download allowance back from my ISP though. Nvidia has been very busy with drivers for this demo as now there is a new 169.04 geforce driver out only a short time after the 169.01 driver was realeased so at least they are trying to fix peoples issues.
Also Sol there has been a few articles about how much better this game performs under 64 bit vista compared to 32 bit,the difference was substantial using similar hardware to our desktops.
Sorry for all the desktop talk everyone....

Hmm I didn't notice a difference on the 64 bit OS. Infact I had a lot of issues with it.

If you want to try it there is a 30 day download on the MS website for XP professional 64

The article I read this morning related to Vista 64 bit vs Vista32 bit, I will try to find it again and post it. If the benchmarks were to be believed then there was an increase of around 10 to 15 % in framerates between the two and I think it improved as the resolutions climbed higher.
edit: Here is the link to the arcticle regarding Crysis Demo,64 bit vista vs 32 bit Vista. I`m sure it will make interesting reading for those that are keen on getting the best from this game.
