my acer is basically my hobby machine, for trying out different distro's of linux and such, i am not a fan of virtualization, it has come a long way, but it will never yield the performance and give me the immediate response time i need. Therefore not being a fan of crossover, parallels it is easier to have a windows machine, that and alot of files i receive in the various office formats, never properly render in there mac counterparts, that and office is so slow on my mac since it is not a universal binary. And on Occasion i like to game a bit, and don't want to wait for a Aspyr to port it to mac, i rather play tf2 and such on windows, all i have to do is hook it up to the flatscreen, slap on my wireless xbox controller and i got actual portable gaming station, as the xbox 360 powerbrick alone is a reason to not move the damn thing, as big as that is, kudo's microsoft for reducing the size of the xbox, by moving it externally
Besides compared to some of my counterparts and my previous statement, i am not a mac fanboy, i think there nicely designed machines, with a innovative operating system, and it's not the big features i enjoy, like recently time machine and a revamped frontrow, it's smaller things, like being apple to drag and drop a application for installation, and being able to have almost any application portable in that way, by having it on a thumbdrive. or simply draggin a image or portion of text off a website and on to the desktop. And some of the nicest open source/freeware stuff is coming out for mac, that is very useful, such as mactheripper, real simple, real effecient. or adium, picasa web albums uploader, check off, and so on, even video editing, as i work for marine corps sports programs, and sometimes i like to film basketball games and other sporting events i used to use pinaccle, and there was a amateur feel to everything i did, not matter how much i strived for perfection, where as with apple i can create a almost semi-pro and elegant dvd to give to the players as a departure gift when they leave the season and not feel like i created something i am not 100% with.
