I use the Kensington Contour Pro 17' notebook carry case.It has a inner sleeve that helps with weight distribution and the inner sleeve have carry handle and hooks to attach the shoulder straps so its two bags in one.Its a little expensive at$79.99 retail but luckily it was included with my system when I bought it my system used on Ebay.

I have a sleeve from Booq bags that I haul my D820 around in when it needs to be carried. I also have a hard-shell 2 compartment tool box with a platform for my laptop. It even has wheels.

I just scored a Crumpler Beer Bag. Super comfy and tons of room. Pretty spendy though.

I use this.

Its basically just a rebranded Ogio Hip Hop bag:

Holds my 1710 & powerbrick (in one of the outside web pockets.) Very comfy. Room for a few disks and a 1/2" notebook. Plus all kinds of pockets for keys, cell, iPod, etc.

Targus laptop bag (3 years old) and Targus backpack (6 years old) for the 17 incher

Sleeve bought in Japan, + Tumi laptop bag and Oakley backpack for the 12 incher (both won't hold the 17 inch)

All seem like pretty good quality and protection, but the Tumi/Oakley do have more style (and "steal me" written on them)

A good bag will last you a lot longer than the laptop inside it will.

i use a casepc sleeve and a lapdance bag for added protection.

I use the Slappa Velocity Pro Spyder Backpack. This thing is super comfortable and has enough room for everything including my 18" Lapinator. It could even carry another 17" laptop. They are a little pricey (Got mine for about $90 from ebay.), but IMO they are worth it.

Mine is Black/Gray. I didn't care for the colours. They had deep discounts on this lavendar/blue option. Hideous from seeing photos.
