Can I disable touchpad?

I have a bad problem with the touchpad buttons whenever I type on my laptop. I use a bluetooth mouse so I dont need the onboard stuff. I cant figure out how to disable it! Thanks in advance for any help.

Both alps and synaptics drivers have an option to disable the touchpad. I don't have touchpad drivers installed yet but usually I choose the option to disable it when usb mouse is present.

just go to mouse properties from control panel, or if you have vista just type mouse in the start menu search. there should be an option to disable when usb mouse is present like zzpulp said. Alternatively you can disable it entirely, both touchpad and buttons. though i wouldn't recommend the latter.
