OK, next problem. I can't get online because the ethernet port doesn't work (friend said it stopped working before the laptop crashed for good)...so that's has physical damage.

Wifi...Win7 isn't even seeing the device. It's an airgo agn300. I tried the drivers that worked in xp and the vista drivers. No luck. Anyone know of Win 7 drivers or a trick for Win7 to see the device and install working generic drivers?

Ouch, that's a tough one. Windows 7 (update) usually pulls the wireless driver for old models after it connects to the internet via the standard Ethernet connection.

What is your exactly notebook model? Share it, may be we can see if we can pull it the wireless driver somewhere for you to install it

cheers ...

yea those drivers ARE for XP. so for the bluetooth and sound and stuff, use them. but you do not need the CPU driver. the thread is only relevant to windows XP and Vista, so i only gave instructions for those OS'. So, windows 7 needs to be 32-bit only. do not use 64-bit OS software. it won't work.

The following drivers are required for windows 7:

Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers. An update for windows 7 is available here:

The audio drivers you gave me worked fine in Win 7 (so far).

The realtek wifi driver didn't work, but I went back and installed the Vista Airgo drive in compatibility mode and that worked. Well see if it sticks after all the windows updates are installed.

Thanks for the help guys.

the aurora m9700 usually sports a 2200bg/3945ABG Intel Wireless. (miniPCI is what it is. So, you can use the intel download detection tool to detect your wireless and other intel hardware, if any. my alienware had an Atheros 5416 Wireless N. that was something i bought. worked pretty well.

OMG...........cant believe this thread was started so many years ago,,,,,,,,yet still going. I knew there was a god of laptops and hes just answered my prayers (i hope, my hands are still clenched so lets see :) )

ok i have an old old m5500 not m5550 but an old m5500 it works great except my darlin mrs seems to have a knack of getting every virus on the planet, so to cut a long story short i had to do a complete re-install of xp home edition (mainly because its the only disks i have and i dont think my system could handle win7) but i didnt back up drivers because i was in a pissy at the mrs and just thought stuff it ill just do a clean install. Anyway ive half read the thread due to a pain in the butt child who refuses to sleep so if this has been covered i apologize.

Are the drivers for the m5500 on here. Im not a great comp whizz and dont know the drivers needed but lets say the whole shabang! chipset,wireless,ethernet,graphics...........well you get what i mean. I kinda need a total package all in one install (hahaha like its ever that simple) i dont have hive access and i know the alienware site has a load but i dont see many for the m5500.

Can anyone help me, cheers guys i can hopefully give specs if needed but the m5500's unmodded were generally the same setup as ive been led to think. thanks again

Search the section. We should have all XP drivers for your model. Win7 32bit should not be an issue, it's the 64bit ding that causes issues. And I am sure that your model can support Win7 just fine
