With a pinch of salt - got once a dud Ethernet driver that didn't work; generally OK.

Hi guys i messaged before with regards to xp drivers for the alienware m5500 (255/259 series) i found all drivers needed and its working great again. Now as ive been using windows 7 on another notbook i have i decided i wanna install win 7 instead.

Im really worried bout driver issues as i assume all the xp drivers currently installed wont work for win 7? is that right???

can i get any advice with regards to drivers for win 7 on the alienware m5500 not m5550, and is it worth updateing? i really prefer 7 to xp after using it.

As i say im pretty worried bout the driver issues. Also im installing windows 7 home premium (32 bit)  as thats the disc i have. does it matter if its home pre or professional or whatever edition? as long as its 32 bit?

if you can help it would be great thanks

Go for it! Home Premium is plenty for normal day to day usage. And Windows 7 should be able to pick up all needed drivers via its database updates.

cheers ...
