Drive Capacity Questions

I am totally new to vista and as a result I am just setting up the apps that I have. I have an HP Pavilion tx1210us Entertainment Notebook PC with a 160GB hard drive. The problem is that when I use the explorer to report the drive information, I see that I have used up just about 55gb. When I check the directories individually, they sum to just under 25gb.

Why is there such a huge difference in space consumption calculation? Could it be that the drive is mirrored or something?
Is there a vista tool that can report in detail about the drive usage.

restore files, volume shadowing, indexing, recovery partition ... these can take a bunch of disk spaces away from what being reported

turn on view of hidden files, u might have a better view

Thanks. I have since learnt that what they call a gb is not necessarily a whole gb. This is a good example of people playing the numbers game.

Thanks again.

Even though all is now well i would recommend a little program called windirstat. It will show you graphically whats taking up what space and combined with Unlocker you can get rid of a lot of annoying stuff.
