Help: My ASUS M6BNe Just Died

Thread Starter
To my shock and dismay my venerable old ASUS M6BNe laptop has just quit working. I shut it down normally last night. When I tried to turn it on today, the power lights came on, the cd made some noise then the lights went out. 3 seconds later the power lights came back on again, but no LCD or disk activity. I have tried removing all peripherals, the internal CDROM, and even tried reseating the harddrive and still the same behaviour. Once after letting it sit for a while and turning it in it did come on normally and start loading Windows, but then it BSODed and rebooted before I could read the message. This hasn't happened since, and it is back to showing nothing.

It is obviously out of warranty and I am at a loss at how to go about diagnosing and getting it fixed. Please, does anyone have any ideas for getting it working again for me?

Thanks in advance.

Try swapping out the memory. It may be a memory issue

agree on the memory, I had the same problems, started taking out my ram and putting them back in separately, and found that it wouldn't boot with one of the mem sticks in.

I'm back down to 512mb now, but at least it works!

My bad ram is a Buffalo? brand stick, DDR 333 looks like. What was I thinking?

ditto, i have some comp, its now fried cause 'friend' broke into my house and broke an egg over the keyboard, but yea when it does that its your memory, both are easily accessable, 1 you have 2 open it up but that is very ez as well. Just be glad your mobo isn't fried like mine.
