My beloved 3790, after around 18 hour a day of work 24/7 for 3 years ....is getting old and tired !

When I press the button to start the computer the central fan (not the CPU one !!!) makes a loud scary sound, that last until window XP takes the control of the system ....and the fan then goes on normally, without any noise ???
Any other sager owner had experienced the same problem ??
Anyone knows if i can try to open the baby and chancge the battery by myself ??

I fear this is the first sign of something more serious yet to come ....I would like to fix it before getting worse !!
