hello i was looking into doing the whole mother board converstion where i can get the new mother board that works with the amd processer and a new video card but i was researching the prices it would cost me around $1000 - $1500. for a new mother board, video card and new processer. is it worth it though? or should i jus t get a whole new desktop. also with this converstion will it be able to play todays highest video games example like call of duty 4,cryisis etc etc

I think you haven't gotten a reply because no one knows which system you are talking about... But, I'll take a guess anyway....

I'm guessing that if you change the motherboard, and get the AMD 1.4GHz processor, and an ATI 9200, that you will not, in fact, be able to play the newest games.

Without a more clear explanation of which system you are talking about, and what motherboard, and which video card you are talking about, anything I could submit would be a pure guess, per my ridiculous suggestion above..

well my system is an aw area51 7700m. i want to put a new mother board in witch would be a D900k mother board. with a nVidia GeForce Go 7950GTX 512MB Video Card. the new processer would be AMD Athlon 64 FX60 FX-60 Dual Core 939 2MB L2. thats what the new system wwould be and my price was around 1000-1500. i am just looking for other peoples opions on if its worth it or not.

How much will $1500 get you towards a new system? Desktops can be had for much less than laptops also...

I personally wouldn't put that much into an older system that's proven to be problematic.

I have no problem why people are still putting money into the D900 laptops. I mean I can understand if its a hobby, you have lots of money to burn, and finally you know how to work on it and just feel like then all the power to them.

If not just buy the newest G92 Cored out awesome nVIDIA 8800GT card and SLi it or just buy a single 8800Ultra and build yourself a nice desktop rig. Thats what I'm about to do once the G90 core cards are out from nVIDIA.

welll i see that some of you dont like the conversion cause of the exspensive price it holds when you can use that moeny and put it in a new desktop. well is it cheaper to build your own desk top? rather then getting one already built?

Yes, it's cheaper to build your own, but not necessarily by much.

You can get everything you need to build a computer from Newegg.com, don't forget a case, fans, Operating System, etc.... It'll add up.

You can get an Alienware desktop for only a few hundred more than building your own if you configure carefully. That way, it's built, you know the hardware works together well, and you get a full coverage warranty.
