I started getting a blue screen after an operation with partition magic 8.0 on windows xp. I finally could start my notebook by bootin from xp cd. Now I have the ms dos mode but I am not accessed to do everthing.

Normally I would format & reinstall everything but this time I really need to get some very important things that are on my hdd.

I have a cd writer on the notebook and a desktop computer (with posstible network connection)

can anyone help me...

Do you still have the recovery CD's that came with the laptop ??? Does it have XP on it ?? There may be an option on the CD for it to reinstall XP without you losing any of your data, worth a try. Good luck and God Bless.
