[m90] Bought a T7600G, isn't overclockable...!?

Hello quys!

I'm from germany and i've been reading (grammar right?) this Forum since months. I really like the activity here - 30 Posts per day in germany is quiet much...

And - sorry for my limited english. Hope i don't needle you...

My problem is not that big - i bought a T7600G for my m90 from second Hand (..from firestarter, also activ in this Forum..). It originally comes from IT-Premier, a shop you already know, like I saw...

Now - the prob is, that the Bios don't let me overclock my lovely G! I'm sure, it is possible, because IT-Premier sells a m90 with 7600G. I've already ask him for his modified Bios (if exist..) but even no answer..

Have you any ideas to solve my problem, or am i damned to let my Beast sleep?

Thanks for requests...

Greez, kai

Did you upgrade your BIOS to the latest from Dell? The original ones did not have support for this processor anyway.

Hello,

I've even tried out the A02, A04, A05, A06 and the latest - A07. None of these BIOS' have the overclocking-funktion activatet...at least the default BIOS'. I'm sure, there is a special BIOS-Revision, that activates this funktion, because also DELL sold the m90s with 7600G for a while...

Try to ask Dell, if you're sure about the fact that 7600g were sold on m90's too.. and let we know something about that plz

G isn't OC'able w/ M90. M1710 is the only system that can OC it unless you find a new way to get this done.

You really should've asked more questions before you bought the CPU though. GL.

I'm pretty sure there's a way, tough not the "official" one ^^

äähm...why they are that pessimistic?

Unless you can find a way to flash the 1710 bios on the M90 i dont think you will be able to OC it. everything i have read about the m90 says it basiscally uses the same motherboard and we all know its the same chasis basically for all 3 models, so not sure why it would excluded from the m90. i think its stupid on dells part not to let you OC on the 1705,m90s but i think it was just a way to get people to jump on the 1710 bandwagon by giving them some exclusive feature.

Don't understand, how you are convinced, that Dell don't let me overclock, what is disigned for overclocking...
Did i overlook some clause in the AGB's??

That is the matter. If i contact Dell (with my Service Tag) per Chat, Tel. or sth., and i ask for a Bios for my new T7600G, they would say me: "Sorry Mr. T., but we don't allow our customers to upgrade their CPU. Same for the Mobo. All other things aren't a problem, but now your warrenty is over, sorry!"

So...that's it. Dell can't help me...

so try with it-premier.de

There's a user of this forum (matchbox2022) that seems has done a bios mod to his m1710. i tried contacting him, but he seems disappeared. Btw, he his yoda's friend, another forum user, so...

A BIOS-Mod to his 1710? For what is that necessary!? Did he modify the BIOS-Code? That would be interesting...

Doesn't the M90 and M1710 use the same motherboard?

the XPS 1710 is the only one that supports overclocking atleast that i know of, so unless there is a way to install that 1710 BIOS to his m90 (which i dont think there is unless you know how to modify a BIOS) then you cant overclock the CPU. i dont know why it shows the CPU going up to 3.16 ghz in that link you have but if you installed the latest bios for the M90 and the option isnt there to OC then you cant OC .

Sorry, but you can be lucky, if you get one of the few Gs. Who would sell his G today? For example Firestarter - he had always probs with his 1710...now he get a 1730 from Dell, as excusion for the probs he had. The 7600G is the maximum for Napa. Some other guys who like to sell their 7600G? I don't think so..

If nothing works, i would sell my M90 and buy a 1710...with circus-lights..

I've spoken with Mr. Dortmund from IT-Premier. Good news, and bad news! The good is, that the M90 is absolutely identic with the 1710-Chipset and is able to overclock the 7600G. The bad is, that i must not give me the Bios-File, which is patched from a M90-Bios to a M1710-Bios, because that's illegal...

I would find the Bios in the internet, he said. Fine. And where? I'm searching for 2 days and nothing found...damn!
While the M90 & 1710 boards look the same there are small differences in them including the TPM chip that isn't on the 1710. No one here has found a modification to allow the T7600G to overclock in an M90. Using the M1710 BIOS on the M90 will turn it into a useless brick.

Those folks at that store are salesmen. They probably don't have a clue what they are selling. You really think DEll would give a modded BIOS to some small 3rd party reseller, and no one else, undercutting the XPS?

I am warning you now, this will ruin your M90. But here you go. A07 BIOS for the 1710...Then you can call him & ask why your computer doesn't do anything.

No - that's wrong, what i said. IT-Premier only said, this patched Bios (M90->1710) is somewhere in the internet. But he can't say more, because he is responsible, if something goes wrong...damn!
