8700 in m9750 - Page 3

yeah if you think about it (and assuming the 8800m realy is hot-swappable with the m9750) you can just order one with the 8700m and dish out the $1k later to upgrade to dual 8800m.

the price of the this m9750 right now is really attractive. i am on the verge of getting one now but keep pushing my purchase farther out to see if the new version will have a better case design when alienware announces it on the 19th.

yeah the infamous november 19th it would be good if they would give you a computer with that new design for winning the contest...

hmmm what is this Nov. 19th date that you speak of?
its part of the decipher page you should get a thing in the newsletter talking about the date and what they are unveiling.... they ask for a RSVP for a certain location on that date...

it's the date the 8800m will be released to the vendors and odm's and also the date that alienware announces their new 8800m sli gaming rig (at a very hefty price tag i might add) to replace the m9750.

my guess is that there will be a new case, hdmi output, santa rosa chipset supporting the extreme cpu, 8800m sli and a physics card.

You mean the crap that dell already has but the 8800M

I cant believe the 9750 has dropped in price like that so quick. I guess they need to get the older parts out the door to make way for the newer 9750 or a whole new range.

FYI the 8700M GT in the Dell is a 512MB cards. The XPS M1730 is a pure entertainment powerhouse.

HAHA and LOL look to the right of this link

The 8700 cards in the 1730 are 256mb x2 which = 512mbs.... the alienware has two 512 cards....

Well i hope the Alienware lappys are good because today i sent my xps 1730 back within 5 days 0f ownership and was not impressed with it....

I am now going to wait until the magic date of 19th nov to see what the Alienware site in the uk brings up...I am hoping we are looking at 8800,s but have my doubts .....

My xps 1730 was just such a nightmare......Admittedly i know very little about laptops and overclocking etc but can use vista and play farcry 24/7 anf the xps just kept slowing down , crashed continually with programmes continually coming up "not responding" , had the black screen of death on numerous occasions and my biceps from carrying it now look like i have taken steroids......Not all is bad the design inside the case and lit up keys are a nice touch but ultimatly it just didnt do it for me...

I also had blu-ray on it but was a waste of time as this is what blueray looked like plugged into the mains

and when watching on the go and on laptop battery

Not so good!!!!

sounds like it could be vista's fault than the system. But i will go with Alienware nevertheless.
I agree.....Although the xps is not a bad machine i just cant bring myself to say i spent $5000 on a dell when i can easily say it on Alienware...

I sense the new Alienware lappy will be called the m9800 and it will have 8800 cards inside....

Well take this at face value but i spoke to Alienware in Ireland today and after a lengthy chat the tech guy said that it was imminenet and would have a choice of 8600 8700 and 8800 graphics cards inside......I said i wanted to purchase asap and he said to wait........sounds good to me.....
