New 5920G Keyboard not working in windows and trackpad not working... help!

Thread Starter
OK so I just picked up the 5920G (The 1.5Ghz version) for a nice price after looking around. The graphics card is really what got me but the HDDVD was neat to have too.

Anyway I got it yesterday and the keyboard would work in the BIOS no problem but as soon as I loaded the Windows Disc (I went right to Nuke Pave as I always do with my systems. I have my own vista disc to use non-oem) the keyboard did not work.... so I started playing with it and it just continued. Also the touch pad never worked as I can not test it in the BIOS but yeah nothing.

I never started it with the OS Acer shipped and I completely redid the drive in command prompt before installing windows so yeah system restore is out.

Now Acer has no problem replacing the unit but honestly to go without a new lappy for 3 weeks just for something like this is well... I would rather not.

Here is what I have discovered.
1) Works in the BIOS every time no problems.
2) If I keep pushing the "Caps Lock" key while booting until I get to the login screen the keyboard works.
3) The Touch pad has never worked.
4) I have installed all the drivers from Acer I found including all the eManage stuff.
5) All Windows Updates to Home Prem. have been installed including all optional, no change.
6) The BIOS update ref to here has been installed.
7) When I get the keyboard to keep working it never cuts out, used it for 30 min.
8) Works fine every time with an external mouse and KB.
9) Touch Pad Buttons show nothing in windows either. (Also I have tried the Fun F7 no luck)
10) Touch Pad drivers seem to appear.
11) I did remove the keyboard, clean the contacts and reseat the cable, problem still happens unless I do the above mentioned "Caps Lock" Button pushing.

Acer is sending me some restore discs which I am considering trying to see if that fixes my problem but this is just.. weird. I have no idea what to think.

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks

Also if your near Rainer OR I would be happy to meet up if I could borrow your restore discs or if you could make me a set I would be happy to buy them off you. (Portland, Beaverton, Longview etc Ia m open to going around to get them lol)

weird. I don't know what to think about that one.

Have you downloaded the Synaptics drivers? (assuming that what it uses)

Go into the Device Manager and uninstall anything related to the keyboard or touchpad devices. Reboot and let it rediscover them.

Can you try to remove the battery? Is the keyboard working then? It really sounds the same as my laptop. In the bios the keyboard is working, in windows not any more.
When i remove the battery (in windows) everything starts to work again, including wifi etc.
