Well I got home today from an 8:30 AM - 11:30 PM day of fun to a MacBook Pro that wont boot up.
It powers on and I get the blue screen with the spinning circle then the screen goes black and it just sits there. If I don't touch it the indicator up front as well as the keyboard back light goes off like it's just in sleep mode. When I touch the mousepad or a key the keyboard lights up again but nothing on the screen.
When I plug the MBP to an external monitor I get a blur background with a mouse cursor but nothing else. No backdrop, apple menu or dock I can right-click and get the popup menu like I am right-clicking on the desktop but nothing works there. I pulled the battery and the power cable and let it sit for a couple of minutes and still does the same thing.
I also attempted to get it to boot from CD/DVD when it is first starting up but it is either not working either or I am not holding the right key down for that to work. It was working perfectly this morning when I left for work and it was powered off and charging just like normal. I come back and it is in the same position/state I left it and it wont turn on
I got an update that got installed this morning and it rebooted after the update just fine. But maybe the update fubar'd Leopard or maybe the hardware just failed. Anyway I am waiting until Apple support is open to give them a call. But now my leopard DVD is in the drive and I am unsure on how to get it out.
