What is faster Compact Flash or Hard disk drive?

what is faster a compact flash with a cf to ide adaptor or a hard disk drive? just curious because ive seen someone swap the hdd to a compact flash in a umpc, cant find the answer in google..

A CF drive should be considerably faster than a HDD but if it's going through an IDE adapter then there is probably next to no difference as the controller will arbitrate the speed on the channel.

Not sure where you get the information CF considerably faster. but from all the test CF is fastest at 12MB/sec where the slowest HD for laptop is 19MB/sec....so even with slowest HD it is still 50% faster then fastest CF... don't believe me Google "CF vs HD"
