Hey can you guys clarify to me what the difference is between a 1st gen MacBook and a 2nd gen MacBook?
Well.... that is tricky

Here is what I remember:
Rev 1 (Gen 1)
-Core Duo
-667MHz FSB
-2GB RAM limit
-Intel GMA950
-Prone to staining on the palmrests
-Rear vent has many, very narrow slits
-Standard keyboard layout
-5.2lbs

Rev 2 (Gen 2?)
-Core 2 Duo
-667MHz FSB
-3GB RAM Limit
-Intel GMA950
-Rear Vent has many, very narrow slits
-Standard keyboard layout
-5.1lbs

Rev 3 (Gen 3?)
-Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa
-800MHz FSB
-4GB RAM Limit
-Intel X3100
-Rear vent has 4-5, very wide slits
-New keyboard layout (seems to match the Apple Wireless Keyboard)
-5.0lbs

What do you mean by staining on the palm rests?

The palm rests would either discolour with dirt and grime or you would flat out start to rub the paint off to show the colour of the plastic underneath.

The oils from your skin would react with the plastic of the palmrests, causing them to turn anywhere from slightly discolored, to orangish, all the way to dark enough to be black.

The later revisions of the MacBook introduced a newer, probably denser, plastic that was significantly more resistant to staining. I happen to have one of the new topcases (palmrest, keyboard, trackpad) on my MacBook (staining, and chipped plastic on my old one) and it has not stained at all which I think is quite good considering my skin eats through metal (slowly, but eats through it all the same. The oil in my skin is apparently slightly acidic, just enough to go through most all precious metals, and some aluminum) which is annoying considering I have to be quite careful when buying watches otherwise I am buying a new one in just a few years.

And I thought I was the only one who had this problem. For me I am buying a new steering wheel for my car every year.

Hehe, not quite a new steering wheel every year. I like the leather cover on my steering wheel and I have to change the cover out because it frays and falls apart.
