I've got an Asus s96j I've been hating for the past 6 months. I only run linux and I never game so the x1600 is wasted and they keys have been crapping out, the speakers suck, the display is picking up scratches/spots, and the headphone port is broken. I've abused it some, the whole point was to be very much portable, but I've never been very happy with the built quality, especially the feel of the keys.
So, any ideas for a barebones I could replace the shell? I'm happy enough with my Core Duo cpu/2 gigs of ram/ 80 gig HD I just want a new bloody keyboard, display, etc. I could sell it (for whatever it'd be worth) and buy a whole new notebook but I need something compatible with linux and it'd be shame to waste money on a windows license if I'm just gonna delete it. Any ideas? I don't care about GPU (just enough to run compiz) and some extra battery life and something that runs cooler would be nice.
