I didn't find the chart that you were talking about specifically. But I was askign a more specific question instead of an Intel generalization. I was wondering if anyone has tried to upgrade their CPU and if anyone knew what exactly this laptop model can handle.

i upgraded all my laptops CPU using Intel/AMD generalisation. and pushed many past limits, digging and searching bios when needed. Sometimes i needed to reference the models i owned against other brands, since many of them share same chipset platforms.

sorry, I'm not having much luck finding the chart that you are referring to. Can you link me the exact chart that you'd be talking about? The CPU in mine is Intel Celeron M 540 Conroe-L and mainboard chipset is Intel GM956. Since it's a Conroe chip, shouldn't that mean that my mobo should be able to handle a core2?

u would want create urself an excel table, using the above information, paying attention to volltage, footprint, L2 cache. U can probably safely upgrade to a core duo, i m not so sure about the C2D (bios?)

cheers ...

For anyone interested the acer 5315 will accept the t7300 core2duo processor. i have installed one in mine and it works perfectly. Gained running time on battery due to the stepping cpu. be sure and upgrade your bios to version 1.34 prior to cpu upgrade.

you were able to get it to run with an 800MHz FSB? That's awesome if you are. Just wanted to confirm it before I went and bought one.
