T7500 or T7600 - Page 2

I'm probably not gonna invest in a new laptop for quite some time either. Any "upgrades" I get would be the result of a replacement system if mine dies (well, the top one in my sig anyways, the second one is out of warranty).

If I were to do anything, it would be the same route I went before (sort of). Spend $1500 or so on a desktop (or spend a few hundred $$$ on updating my current one a bit) and buy a 12-15" laptop for portability. But honestly, that scenario depends on how school turns out and what I'd need for work.

I installed the Blu Ray drives myself, and eventually got them working alright, they're pretty much universal.

When I bought my new computer (i.e. my laptop last year), its main purpose was to use it as a DAW in my recording studio, and some casual gaming.
I wasn't sure if I would go with :
A) a desktop + a cheap laptop for mobile use and on the go recording
or
B) only a high end laptop.

My friends who operate studios too convinced me that it was better to have only one machine since with DAW (Digital audio workstation) we have lots of plugins and stuff to install, and it's quite a hassle to keep 2 machines synchronized with the same software.

Now after one year, I realized I really love gaming on a PC, and that my mobile needs is restrained to casual web surfing in my living room. So I should have chosen scenario A).

I'm currently in the middle of a huge dilemna : sell my laptop or trade it for a cheaper laptop + cash and buy a desktop, or get a 7950GTX, which sadly will be obsolete soon too.

Ok so if I want to move to a 64 bit O/S what should I move to XP 64 bit or Vista Business 64 bit? Or just stick with Media Center Edition like I curently am?

which machine?

the dell or the AW?

also I don't see any real benefits of moving to a 64 bit OS w/ the AW, since the chipset is limiting ram recognition to 3gb =(

just installed vista64 on my M90, no issues

oh had to get the touchpad driver from their website, everything else was on dell (so far anyway)

works great, as far as I can see. Has a second programs folder for 32bit programs, so I didnt bother partitioning the drive.

It came with xp64, really gone off xp, so binned it

The 64-bit OS gives you a bit more advantages than just the memory expansion. Larger registers make working with large files easier. There are also more registers. I'm sure there are other adv/disadv but those are the ones I know of.

Of course, all of this disregards any problems you may have with drivers.
