Upgrade current MBP's 2GB memory to 3 GB?

Thread Starter
My MBP came with 2GB of memory and I'm wondering if I'd see any noticeable speed or performance gains by upgrading the sticks to 3 GB?
Id have to get a kit that has a 1GB stick and a 2 GB stick.
Seems weird but they do sell the kits and the memory has lowered in prices.

Anyone else done this?

Your MacBook Pro should already have 2*1GB, so you can simply get a 2GB stick to replace one of the 1GB sticks.

Really though, unless you are noticing a lot of slowdowns, you are probably fine.

I currently upgraded to 3GB on my MacBook from 2GB and I can tell you, everything's running faster. Now, on a day-to-day basis, you won't feel much difference but if you have a lot of tabs in Firefox or Safari (10+) opened at once along with iTunes, Mail, Adium, iChat, and other stuff, you will notice things do not lag when you switch between programs.

have you made a purchase yet? I'm looking for a 4GB upgrade and have seen a handful of offers <$100. I wanna see what Newegg and Zipzoomfly have on turkey day and the day after (black friday). The 2+1 kits I've seen are more expensive than the sticks I've seen for sale.
