Just wondering what the key differences are betweem the N and C series Lenovo laptops and the Thinkpad series?

Consumer grade (n/c) vs. business grade (Thinkpad)

N/C is all plastic, and no different than any other HP/Compaq/Gateway/Toshiba that you could find at a Circuit City or Best Buy.

Thinkpads are geared towards business, and are generally built better. Even the all-plastic R series is better built than any of the consumer-grade systems. But, focusing on T/X, they're simply better built machines, with a focus on getting work done rather than looking pretty or pandering to cheap customers.

Gotcha. So the R series is sort of an entry level business grade. And the T is sort of their workhouse and the X is a smaller and lighter version of that?

yup.

I had an R. Good system, no complaints. T's in all ways better.
