You should know what the deal is especially if you work there.
I know what the deal is, we take responsibility for our mistakes. No we don't repair anything not under warranty but if we do something wrong and the customer suffers for it we make damn sure they are taken care of 100%.

Dell on the other hand made a mistake and has decided to take advantage of our misfortune due to their mistake by charging us 600 dollars to fix it. the LEAST they could do is offer those with the 7900gs 256 single pipe is a replacement at a reasobale cost... and I mean that's the LEAST they should do. They should issue a voluntary recall instead of making everyone who still has one worry if theirs is going to crap out 2 days after their warranty too.

The fact is it's bad customer service and in my opinion is criminal. When a car company issues a defective part with a car and they find out later it's prone to failure they replace it, whether it's a safety issue or not. There is no difference between a computer and a car when it comes to replacing factory defective parts... I should not be treated like a second class citizen because I didn't buy their warranty.

You'd likely have alot less people disliking you if you matured your attitude a bit and left out the sensle flames and insults.

Well if the people here were not such biased idiots maybe I wouldn't have to. just close the thread who friken cares any more. Dell screwed a bunch of us, and their fanboys and employees in disquise in here will make any excuse as to why a company a huge and profitable such as them shouldn't take responsibility for selling people a flawed product predetermined to failure. period.

peace

btw, if you're going to be a fanboy, pick something cooler than dell lol. dorks...

Anyways,

I've had my E1705 a little over 1 year, 5 months now. I overclocked my 7900 GS (and volt-modded/flashed it with 7900GTX BIOS) about 6 months after I got my machine.

About ~3 to 4 months ago, I've noticed that my machine started to drop in performance whenever I play "graphic-intensive" games, but in "spikes" where the fps would suddenly drop significantly for a short period of time then it would go back to normal. This is rather annoying...

I don't know whether if it is due to the CPU or the 7900GS, because my i8kfangui would tell me that the CPU load drops, but I fear that my GS is the cause of the problem. I have both of my fans on high most of the time, since you know, it does get really hot.

What do you guys think?
I have spent a year trying to get to the bottom of an identical problem on my inspiron 5160 (3.2gHz / 512 / 64 m Geforce 5200). This is not a gaming machine............but it you used to play flight sims, even Far Cry on low settings. The frame rate now drops every 10 seconds for 4 seconds on ANY video task, even Windows media player classic. Two guys I know have the same model....same problem. Any ideas?

Crap, count me in. My card just died after 1 year and 2 mos.
What the hell is wrong with Dell. First the faulty LCD on 9300, now the faulty 7900 GS on 9400/e1705. Dell quality is really going down.

Add me to the list...Died several months after the warranty expired...Even worse, it was in my mother's laptop, who had never played on a game on it since she owned it...

Sorry everybody, but the little "its done" thingy popped up on this thread a long time ago. I gave it a chance, but it seems to keep coming back.
