FS: Brand new Thinkpad x61s 12" Ultraportable laptop

Monday evening I received this unit and realized I had mistakenly ordered this model instead of the tablet PC version I wanted. Selling it at cost to save myself the 15% restock fee. Has been booted up (when I realized it wasn't the tablet) but otherwise not used. All original packaging and manuals. No dead pixels on the screen. GREAT keyboard.

did you buy it from a store, or from Lenovo itself?

Back in 2004, I bought a T41P, and within 2 weeks there was a better T42P at a lower price. I called the guy up I ordered it from at IBM, and they let me return it for the T42P. (Plus, it had a 30 day return period, which I was certainly within).


There's a chance that if you call them up and tell them you ordered the wrong part, and that you'd like to place the order for the correct one they'd wave a restocking fee.


Otherwise, bump for you. I'd love to take it, I just can't swing the money.

Bought direct from Lenovo. Called and got the full Lenovo customer experience; they were firm on a return would include a restock fee. Can't say I blame them; from their perspective its just another return. But honestly, as a web developer the only thing I can think happened is I was comparing different builds and I must have clicked on the different model. Its not like there is a big distinction on their pages between the X61 Tablet and the X61s. Just means I need to sit tight until I can sell the lappy.

Yesterday I called Lenovo again to see if a different rep would make a difference. It didn't. They justified their restock fee because they felt "its nearly impossible someone would want your exact configuration of computer". Right, whatever. But I only have until the 21st before initiating a return. I'd hate to lose $200 in restock but I'd rather get what I want and be happy to keep it for years.
