9750 vid card issue

Ok so i was loading eve online and suddenly my comp froze up on me, then restarted and came back with a screen that very much resembled plaid.

After letting it sit for a bit i booted it up and turned it over, noticing all the fans running except the video cards. Also when booting it up i was able to get a clear picture sometimes and get upto scandisk, then the screen goes blank.

I decided to sit the laptop on a box fan to boot it up to see if that would allow it to boot. i didnt get much headway and the more i rebooted the more goofy graphics screens i got.

Ive put in a callback with sager but i'm beginning to think the god murphy hates my life and has just fried my video card to please his murphistic desires.

That being said please help>=D if i can get away with just replacing the video card cooler id be happy. if not heres to $550 to rjtech for a 7950...im about a month away from building a new desktop anyway tho>=/

EDIT: also i think i may have a bad sata cable as described by someone. the laptop sometimes doesnt start and sits with the hd light flashing and the speakers twitching.

Ok so after more troubleshooting.

Removed Hard drives - would not post with just the sata cable on there.

Removed sata cable - posted, hit function f2 confirmed video card fan working.

Re-installed hard drives - back to not posting.

ALSO individually checked ram sticks.

It appears i have a bad sata cable, but can that make my screen shutdown or cause artifacting / garbled image on the post screen, followed by the screen shutting down.

Ok after ordering a new gaming rig (desktop) in the boredom i decided to test out a gentoo live cd in my 9750 with the hard drives removed. It booted up fine without any issues. I was having problems just getting scandisk to run before, which makes me believe theres nothing wrong with the machine except for the hard drive cable or possibly hard drives. my replacement cable from sager should be here tomorrow so ill post an update when i get it.

Im not sure if anyones keeping up with this as im the only one to post on this thread but to anyone that cares heres the current status.

And as a side note for anyone troubleshooting, no matter how far away it seems from the possible. before buying parts for a fix or sending it in swap out every single thing you can with spares. I could have had this issue under the wrap last week if i had and saved myself money.

Got the new cable from sager, installed it. It again had issues recognizing the hard drives, then the bios came up and the graphics were goofy again, but it actually made it through scandisk etc then black screen no response.

I pulled the hard drives out (2x80gig 7200rpm seagates in raid 0) and put in the original 60gig 5400rpm fujitsu. Booted up great then got to black screen of weird. Restarted went into the bios and turned off the sata raid controller so it wouldn't try to make a raid. Then restarted it and found a 2 year old passworded windows xp that i couldnt find the password to. After running my god code cd and resetting the password i got in ran games fine etc. im not sure if the failure is the sata raid controller chip on the motherboard itself or if its the hard drives. I may be able to test the raid drives individually to see if it has any issues detecting the drive during post.

Also the friendly guys at sager sent me the replacement cable in packing for a d900k/t video card so i could send it in for repair.
