Anyone Finished COD4 Yet?

Well, the beef with this game is that it's too short. Some claim that it's only a 4-5 hour game. But here I am in my third day and I am stuck in this level called Safe House. I went through at least a couple of buildings already and right now I'm in this building where the big satellite dish is. I'm trying to push my way into another building (with the concrete steps), but I can't. Too many baddies everywhere and an enemy tank that I can't seem to destroy. I have tried so many approaches but to no avail -I always end up being blown by grenades or hail of bullets. Guys in my platoon aren't any help either. I'm playing it at hardened difficulty.

I like this game. Definitely better than COD2 in tems of graphics, gameplay and story line. The early level where you landed on a moving ship in a stormy sea was pretty amazing.

Unlike crysis, you can't hide in a clump of bushes and snipe. The enemies will find you. Buildings aren't sanctuaries either because bullets go through walls. There's really nowhere to hide. I can best describe this game as "intensely satisfying". And the best thing is that it's not as a resource hog as crysis is. With my 8800gt, I play it all max @ 1920 x 1200 and it plays really smooth. Now if I can only get out of this level.....

I have not even started the single player yet.

I still havent personally played the game but a buddy of mine got it earlier this week for PS3 and he just beat it today. I can definitely tell how linear the gameplay is but it still looks rather nice.

I'll get it for PC as soon as I can get a desktop.

Wait you're telling me people would buy this game for the single player only?

Well, as linear as linear gets I suppose, similar to the previous CODs. That is my only gripe with this game. That and you're only limited to two armaments at a time. Wished they made it so that you can pick and choose other missions, a la far cry. Be that as it may, it is a high quality fps with a fresh perspective and I highly recommend this if you are into this genre.

The scenarios look very realistic. The opening clip is a ride as a passenger (in a humbie I think), around a middle eastern city's streets and back alleys going towards your starting point. Along the way, you see these men armed to the teeth wandering about and looking at you menacingly ready to blow you away any moment.

And then there's this sequence where you're transported by helicopter into a moving cargo ship in a raging sea. Fantastic scene.

I think you'll get your 50 bucks worth in my opinion.

I used to be a bit of a CoD MP addict but I am recovering. So it would be best for me not to play MP to be honest. I will try but if someone asks me to play, say bye bye to my free time.

ZZ you owe it to yourself to play CoD4 MP at least once.

Downloading it now off of Steam.

If I get the free time I will. I'm more interested in trying out UT multiplayer though.

Great! How many hours total?

I've been playing it on and off for the last three days (maybe four) but I'm almost there. I'm playing it at the hardened difficulty so it's a bit more tougher. I am on act 3 (nuclear control room). Hope to finish before I get Crysis sometime this week.

they have found me plenty of times

also i tested Crysis on an old 2.2ghz, 768 ram, ATI 9600 256ram and everything ran 100% fine on lower settings...getting good FPS and no slowdown what so ever

so, your wrong

What exactly do you guys consider smoooth?????On Crysis???I tried to run high at 1920x1200,,,Its not SMOOOTH, their is lag not jittery lag just lag when I move the mouse around, at medium their is zero lag, but looks like ass.

As for COD4, I haven't played 1 player, just earned level 27 Multiplayer soo working on that.

re crysis: Ya, you can probably get decent fps @800x600, all low settings, but it ain't pretty. I tried it on my dim 8300 (p4 3.0 w/x850xtpe) and it made me quite nauseas.

Well, I'm playing crysis now (full game) @1280x1024, 2x aa, half high and half medium settings on my opti 165 and I'm averaging around 30, maybe 35 fps. Hicups (lags) here and there, but still very playable with some eye candy. There's some blurring also when I turn from side to side. So not smooth by any stretch.

COD4 on the contrary plays really smooth on my opti at 1920 x1200, 4x aa, all high settings. No lags or blurring whatsoever. Just perfect.
