Hey guys,

Was just onwdering, Ive got an old 40GB ipod harddrive at home doing nothing, you think newegg has the right case for turning it into a regular external (kinda like a mybook or sumtin).

Im not sure which type of enclouse to get, i imagine somethng small would be great, but Im on a wireless connection and losing signal fast (newegg keeps 'timing out'), any ideas???

Don't those drives have proprietary connections?

What im hoping to do is just have the small 1.8 drive inside the enclosure then hook it up to my laptop via USB and just run my music off the the ipod harddrive. The problem lies in finding the right hookups and enclosures.

Thanks for the quick repsones and helpful tips, *Hans out some rep*

Okay, I've seen that hdd before. I thought iPod drives were smaller. But I'm not really sure at all where you could get an enclosure for that. If you're a supergenius, you could make one out of an old Sony ultraportable....

Edit: nevermind, it's smaller than I think

You could always buy an actual Ipod off of Ebay with a N/S hard drive, then you could use it as a USB drive or another Ipod!! Also, the connector looks remarkably similar to a Compact Flash connector??

I actually got an external case for it back in December and it runs beautifully.
