changing the 7900gtx to 1.32v - Page 6

Get a PhD in EE, get out your ohm meter, get a soldering iron and a variable ohm resistor, and go to work.

Put your card at its stock voltage, and leave it at that before you fry it.

these cards have voltage regulators fx2500/7900gtx fx3500/7950gtx

they can't volt any higher. alteast with nibitor

There's no need for this crap, dude. Get a punching bag or something.

You asked a question, i answered. No one has done it before with this card, and you asked how you could do it, and my answer is (likely) the only way. Its a very common practice with desktop cards, you just need the EE knowledge to be able to read the design schematics to figure out what to put where. No reason to let your panties get all bunched up. Even diefool chimed in with the voltage regulator comment, and again, the only way to overcome this is with a resistor hard mod.

Secondly, i recommended you stop dicking around with it before you kill your card, because many people have. Take my advice, dont take it...i personally dont care.

OK. I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Ive actually have had quite a good day, its not my fault you mis-intepreted my response. Have a happy Thanksgiving as well.

Used to decrease the voltage of my 7950gtx from 1.32v to 1.24v.
I then compared the oc-capability of 1.32v vs. 1.24v. There was no difference - artifacts started at the same corerates.
So I do now run my card permanently at 1.24v. It runs about 2 - 3 degrees cooler, thats`s the only difference.
In any case I wouldn`t take any risks and increase the voltage if i had a card that originally runs at lower voltages. I just can`t see any benefits.
Please tell me if I am wrong as I am no Pro in this subject.

I could tell you all I know but it would just confuse you more. Essentially, this isn't a science.
