changing the 7900gtx to 1.32v - Page 3

Funny, I was thinking of OVERvolting my 7950 in the near future to see what kind of gains I could achieve, if any at all.

Its running 10-20c cooler under a full load since increasing the voltage?

i enabled 1.32 then flashed the clocks.

when playing games it isn't getting as hot now.

Geez I'm gonna try that tonight. What speeds do you have it up to?

That sounds wierd. Higher voltage usually mean higher temperature.
Was it impossible to get to 650 before?

but I am calling it like I see it.

I am getting great FPS in Oblivion, GRAW2, Crysis, Bioshock

Also it is running for sure 10 degrees cooler.

It goes to like 77 in Bioshock after playing for a while, and it ustu go 89+

all i did was go into nibitor and to the voltage table editor thing and enable vid7 or whatever 1.32v

was there any other bytes I had to change in the perf 1,2,3 table to enable the voltage change?

the clocks are unlocked i believe cuz when I change them in ati-tool they stick.

when i dump the rom in nibitor from my card it says 1.32v.

if there is a byte I had to change it's news to me and would someone (zzpulp) explain to me what to do?

or maybe i did this correctly.

thanks

Thats awesome man. Do you have AS5 on the GPU core or not? Also whats the max overclock you've gotten on it now in ATItool?

i got like almost 680 but haven't tried to push farther.

yes I have AS5.

i get a few clumps of little yellow dots flashing near the top left.

not many in retrospect, but it says no errors at the bottom.

What about the RAM?

my ram is usually no more than 730
I have read in a few places that anything over 730 is not that much more effective.

since core mhz is usually more effective to change.

however I did try to change it to 800 and it froze.

but I have noticed not that much change past 730.
Hmm right now I'm @ 575/690 w/ 1.24 volts and topping out @ 83c. Gonna keep seeing how high it goes before I have to flash the voltage.
Sorry, I've been busy all day. Yeah there's really no reason to up the RAM except bragging rights. Speaking of those, I can get my memory to 900 MHz . Anyway, no there is no other bit you have to change when you change the voltage. Changing the vid table changes the voltages available and applying that voltage changes the voltage in the performance table for that particular performance level. Like Krayzie said, there seems to be an inbuilt regulator in many cases but I have not yet tested out my 7950GTX.
right, you can get your G71 video cards memory up to 900MHz, essentially making it 1800MHz? Got any screenies?

well because of the regulator my card may not be truly @ 1.32v.

It sure runs good @ 650/730

Diefool, can you get a 3DMark'05 bench? I don't have the proper screen res to run 3D'06.

sure, I will get it as soon as I can, I don't have 05 right now.

Sorry but you didnt increase the voltage and lower your temps at the same time with a BIOS mod unless the laws of physics dont apply your laptop.
I just flashed my card with 1.32 volts and it didnt allow me to overclock a single MHz higher Do you need to reinstall the driver after upping the voltage? The card starts artifacting at a lot lower temperature then when I had it @ 1.24 volts. Think flashing it with a lil lower voltage like 1.28 or 1.30 might give better results?
