I have an old T42p that I bought a few years back. It was from a IBM service rep, who said he was authorized to sell IBM. Unfortunately shortly after I purchased the unit, it died, and the guy disappeared. When I called IBM to get service they said they couldn't repair because it wasn't a unit that was sold, but was a "internal unit", something like a sample of some sorts. I explained the situation, but they wouldn't help me.
I spent about $3000 at the time and it only lasted 2 months, I know it is 4 yrs old, but its such a nice unit, my brother bought one also, and his is still going strong. Also, his had the same problems, and his was a legit unit so he got it repaied. It needed a replacement motherboard.
Before I just throw the unit out, Is there anyway to get this unit repaired? , and does it even make sense? Is there a good third party that can repair this unit?
Even if it cost $500-$700, I'd consider because it is a fully loaded system.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.
Regards.
Joe
