new 15" & 17" laptops w/ 8800m GTX! - Page 14

Can anyone tell me the advantage of an off centre touch-pad on the laptops? I can understand the touch-pad being off centre on the 17" because of the numberpad, but what about the m15x??? Why would that be off centre? i do not see a reason.

all the other sizes are doing it. /shrug

others 15incher doesn't have numpad my friend. So that's why u see it is off-center which actually makes it centered since it includes numpad.

Looks centered to me on it. Close anywho.

Might be slightly to the right hand maybe.

Hmm,

Those pics shed a little more light on the m15x for me. I'm still curious about the weight, and a few other things however...

Is it me or are there way too many led lights all over?? I am still kinda glad that the 17" doesn't look nice... but I really like how AW is makin a 15" a beat of a lappy, finally power with mobility. Swappable drive is a very sweet feature... all I need to do is just get one of those 8800s =)

PS doesnt the 15" kinda remind u of a mac or a model sony made...

I kind of agree with you on that. There were a couple of photos that looked like similar to the Macbook Pro.

Q1 2008, oh well, gives me more time to save for a fully loaded one......Those 3DMark scores are sure impressive though.....

Ditto . Like the black case too, but seems too shiny (prints all over it).

Call me obsessive but I dunno if I can stand the touch pad being off centre

I like that black color as well. I am also liking the Ripley design which would compliment the 'skullcap' that I have on my m5500.

I don't use a touchpad, as I'm prone to accidentally moving the cursor all around my documents.

1) Why complain about DVI vs. HDMI? If you never upgrade, you'd be on VGA or component. It's the new tech, and that's what AW centers on.

2) Can't compare weight and size to a 7700 like mine, but I do understand everyone's frustration with this information not being released.

3) If you're really worrying about battery life between the 8 and 7 series cards you're missing the point (IMO). I bought my 7700 for performance, and the 45 minute battery life should tell you that. I don't care how long it lasts, I keep it plugged in and run games better than any of my buddies, and that's why I bought it.

4) Since it isn't coming out until 2008, we've got plenty of time for various sites to do complex reviews that I'm sure will entail measurements, benchmarks, and the like.

This is all, of course, my $.02

I agree. It is a sweet looking keyboard. Any information on the "Customizations" you can do with the keyboard?

you can always turn it off if you brush into it often.

My m9700 touchpad is slightly off center, but it's alligned with the alphabetic keys on the keyboard. When you're typing, the touchpad is centered between your hands, so you have solid panel for your wrists rather than the touchpad.

There's reason behind their madness...
