It seems like the way to go to help extend battery charge time.

I just saw that. I had a feeling that it wouldn't be too long before they offered Penryn's.

That's pretty nice. Too bad for those who already jumped the gun on the merom's. This is bringing me back to the m15x!

I just called and changed my order over from the X7900 2.8 extreme 4MB cache to the new X9000 Penryn !!! 6MB cache vs. 4MB cache is always better, glad it was still in phase 4! I pretty much have the system maxed out except for the 720p 1440x900 screen. Should I of gotten the 1200p??? I hope I dont regret it. My friend thinks I wont be able to run crysis at max is this true?

Nice upgrade!

I am not sure about Crysis at full graphics, though. I would think it should.
See:
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
They have added a Crysis test.

You can't play Crysis at max. Only with shadows on low that you can.

A little planning is needed to boot Linux from a USB portable drive. A small intro can be found here:

Even desktop computers with one 8800 GTX card can't run Crysis at max.
You may be able to run Crysis at medium with maybe 60 fps.

I hate to keep bringing this up, but has anyone been able to utilize the supposed fix that Alienware issued to allow video AND AUDIO through the HDMI ?

I see you have been posting and getting no responses.
I am sure you read this:

I checked on the Dell forums and there was a similar issue with the XPS M1530. It may not be exactly the problem, but this is supposed to be the fix for them:

This is interesting. I received a Dell Gaming Newsletter E-Mail about the Alienware m15x.

From Dell Gaming Newsletter [dell@homeandhomeoffice.dell.com]

The Area-51 m15x Laptop from Alienware: Powerful Enough to Handle Crysis

http://www.dell.com/html/global/topi...dhs/index.html

There is an Alienware section to visit Alienware. Changing ad at top of site shows Alienware m15x.

well it is possible to handle crysis its not like the computer just wont play it, youll just have to turn down some of its graphics, and i dont see what the big deal is from reviews ive heard crysis really isnt as great as everyone makes it to be

I haven't seen it, either. Many reviewers seem to prefer to use Crysis as a benchmark for graphics performance, rather than as a game. Maximum PC, for one, thinks the game play is repetitive.

I was interested that Dell has an ad showcasing Alienware's new notebook... and gaming consoles.
