let us bow our heads...

dear lord, let us prayeth that thy good will shalt be lent to us this once and once more, for we art in need of thy greatest and most powerful NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX, and we doth needest it be compatible with thy most humble and tireless servants the DELL Inspirons E1705 and XPS M1710, for as thee surely knowest, we humble devotees hath long suffered without the latest and most righteous of graphics cards, the better with which to play thy greatest creaetion to date, Crysis, the one true game which your own hands didst crafteth.

thank you lord,

amen.

edit: oh yea, and lord, if thou have not yet become entirely bored by my ramblings, couldst thou reduce the cost of said NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX to the less-than-godly price of around $250-$300. thankee lord.

Amen. Spread the love of the desktop 8800GT prices to the mobile versions.

I mean the XPS2 and M1710 had the same form factor, the 7900GTX physically fit into the the XPS2, yet still to this day, no one has been able to use one in the XPS2. The wish that a bios hacker will come here is a distant dream at best. This situation is just like the high hopes of people that thought they would be able to play Crysis on high at 1280 x 800+ @ 45+ fps. Its just not realistic.

If I get another DTR, then the M6300 will most definitely be it. It will be the machine that makes people forget about the M1710/9400 just like people forgot about the XPS2/9300.

agreed ^

this time there won't be a 9400/e1705 like the 9300, eh?

I have been waiting a year since the 8800 apeared in the desktop for it to be shoe horned into a laptop. And now I can get two!!!

I saw the Alienware site before it was pulled and a 17" with SLI 8800's, 3GB Ram, Blu-Ray and a single 200GB 7200rpm drive was about $4500. A little over 5K after tax and shipping.

I would expect DELL to offer the SLI 8800M in the 1730, it has the cooling solution and extra power in the brick already.

I believe the 8800M is based on the 8800GT card. It will run at a lower clock rate, but the 96 steam processors, 256-bit memory bus and new architecture is a huge improvement over the 8700.

As soon as they post and I have a chance to see the specs I am pulling the trigger.

did you forget to pray that they fix the SLi performance issues plaging the 1730's because of the badly ported drivers? (Don't pull any triggers until they fix this issue or you will be one ticked off customer)

7800 GTX fits in the D810 with tweaking. Stop talking about stuff you dont have a clue about.

SLI works fine for me here...what are you talking about?
Theres a difference between them working, and then giving the performance they're supposed to
post #54 of 126
The SLI drivers are only releasd in spurts. And they are never cruurent. Check around alot of PO'ed people running around with crap driver support from AW or Dell.
The LV2G and MobileForceware drivers don't happen to support SLI do they?

The SLi drivers for the 1730 are broken. They do not produce the performance they should & there are screams of frustration all over the net regarding it. It's one of the reasons it's received such a luke warm release.

Its not my problem if your taking corrections and suggestions for you to top making yourself look like a fool as an insult. Perfect example: To think that two notebooks that have the same internals, just one is 15 inch and the other 17, that the 15 inch would be less powerful because its smaller. You are a genius. Case in point, my brother has a 9300 with the same exact internals as my D810, and guess what, they perform the exact same!

i was talking about what the companies have released before based on their track record.

and what they say about the cards at notebookcheck.

I said they have never released the cards I stated comercially in a notebook 15"

I wasn't talking about tweaks or mods.

Ok if you want to play that way, the e1505 and the e1705, both with x1400's. They performed the same, given the same HDD, CPU, RAM, GPU, etc. Only difference: 15.4 inch vs 17 inch.

Also the FX 1400m was available in a 15 and a 17 i believe, and they performed the same.
