Hello,

I am in the process of overclocking my card (thanks to the help of my brother and this website) and I am wondering what exactly is a good number to go by for these cards? I am currently at 510/540 and am having no problems but im paranoid and dont want to mess anything up, that being said I would like to get the best/safest "bang" I can out of this card...

Also, is their a program for Vista that allows you to permanetly keep these settings, I cant find such a thing on AtiTool...

Thanks!!

600/800 seems to be a sweet spot

Save profiles in ATITool, and load different profiles for when you need them. I run mine underclocked when not in use, overclocked when in use. I have an overclock of 425/800 for 1V, 625/800 for the 1.24V overvolt.

Oh, hell yeah! Didn't realize you could work Ati like that! Thanks!!

It depends on whether you have a rev0 or rev1 7900GS. 600/800 is pretty much impossible for the rev1 based on what I've heard from most of the users here.

Yeah, I have a rev 0 thankfully... Im at 575/700 and I have stopped their to be safe...im thinking about it for a few days if i want to push it to the max.

About the best I could get (very stable) with a Rev. 0 was 450/650.

I haven't tried the overvolt yet - but I do have the 130W PS.

I have not had any luck overclocking in Vista 64 with software. Has anyone else?

I just finished benching Crysis @ 450/725 1v, 1024x768, 30.1 FPS. Seemed to be stable, no artifacting - and the 169.04 drivers offer a huge gain overall.

I ran 650/850 everyday clocks when I had my 7900GSX. All you have to do is watch your temps. You're not going to ruin your card from overclocking it too high. The driver will crash, or you'll notice artifacts. Again, watch the temps and overclock til your heart's content.

I now have mine at a steady 575/700...so i bumped from 700 to 750 and i got a blank screen so i just restarted and it did zero damage to my computer...anyone know what this blackscreen i had tells me? (obviously i dont want to go to 750 again lol)

I should have elaborated...you're going to need to flash the GTX rom to the card before you go much further. The black screen was more than likely just your driver crashing. Nothing a reboot doesn't remedy. You have a rev0, so there's a lot more OCing you can do yet my friend.
