OMEGADRIVE here!

http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html

This are "optimized" drivers for the ATI Radeon (Mobility too) family of video cards.

What's New? (2k/XP 2.5.36)
* Based on the Official Catalyst 4.4 drivers.
* Updated the Omega version of RadLinker (1007). Many thanks to ChrisW!
* FastWrites is now an option when installing.
* Fixed support for Mobility 9700.
* Fixed support for 9800SE cards flashed with 9800XT bios.
* Added a fix to solve Gamma problems in some applications and games.
* Removed some old tweaks that are no longer necessary, this should give
a small speed boost to some games and applications.

Omega Drivers v2.5.36b for Win2k/XP 04/17/04

Omega has just updated his ATi Drivers to version 2.5.36 B based on Catalyst 4.4!

What's New?

- Included the ATI hotfix to solve Gamma problems with applications and games.
- Added a possible fix for 9700M cards that are being detected as 9600M.
- Added a few new settings for Mobility cards that should fix a few things, for example, the hibernation issue.
- Added new Large Desktop modes and refresh rates.

These drivers still show that the card in the 8790 is a 9600, but I modified them to show as a 9700. after installing the new drivers, go to C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.5.36b\2KXP_INF\ and find the file 'CX_RAD_OMEGA.INF' and find the line where it says:

"RADEON Mobility 9700 SERIES (Omega 2.5.36b)" = ati2mtag_M10, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E50&SUBSYS_005F1025

Now add another line underneath it that says:

"RADEON Mobility 9700 SERIES (Omega 2.5.36b)" = ati2mtag_M10, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E50&SUBSYS_08701558

Do this to the file 'C2_RAD_OMEGA.INF' also.

Now run 'SETUP.EXE' in C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.5.36b\ and it will now detect it as a Mobility 9700.

Have fun. This will not make any difference in performance, but it will give you the peace of mind that it displays as a 9700.

i have tried to install the new drivers several times and i have dowloaded from different sites several times, and i keep getting a msg saying need disk 2. I know from the last update, it says the file is corrupt and to try downloading again, but this doesnt seem to help. anyone have any ideas?

I have downloaded omegadrivers on both of my Sager laptops and never had an issue in the installation of them. Are you indeed downloading the winxp drivers and not the winme drivers? You may want to try uninstalling your current ati driver and definitely your control panel, reboot, and then reinstall the latest "b" drivers. Don't change any of the default settings on the installation, and is should install normally.

These drivers also take care of the gamma problem I was experiencing in Call of Duty (my screen would darken all of a sudden)

I have had some problems with these drivers. They are mostly apparant in Unreal Tournament 2k4. In the title screens I've noticed some random fuzz jumping around on the screen. Much like you see on the screen in the movie theatres. On top of that I could no longer use the gamma settings. I could scroll the bar but there was no change on the screen. I reverted to the old drivers and these problems have gone away. I can't play without my gamma:P

i think that the omega drivers in general have issues with gamma/brightness/contrast. Cause when playing Farcry, every time i try to adjust those settings it locks up immediately and i have to cold restart. wierd.

my ver says 2.5.36a

I finally got the drivers to install correctly, but i was still having trouble w/ them, so i went back to the 4.2's. I will wait for the next vs before i upgrading my drivers again.

Having a bit of trouble as well. The drivers installed fine and correctly, but when I run the game Sacred, the background is divided into boxes. When I revert to the 757s, this problem goes away. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with Gamma that zacharac described. In both FarCry and Halo, when I adjust my gamma settings, it locks up my system (8790). I have to do a power-off restart to get back up. Grrrr.

So has anyone fix this issue because it's happening to me with the newest drivers from omega. I try to go back to my stock drivers but it does the same thing by locking up when I change gamma.
