International notebook conspiracy!!??

Hi

I am wanting to buy a Sony Vaio laptop from here in Korea. As you may know, in Korea you can get a TZ 25/L, which is the same as most TZ's except it has the celeron M processor and hence is 25% cheaper than its core duo cousins.

The operating system is vista home premium and it is the Korean version.

The people at Sony told me that if I format the hard drive and install English vista there "maybe" driver problems.

They won't say for sure, except to say they wouldn't do it and won't support it.

To me, a relative noob, I can't understand how drivers, which control hardware, could be a problem when changing the operating system in such a way.

I have changed many desktop computers from Korean to English via a fresh install and never had a problem.

I suspect the Korean Sony people are just not interested in supporting me and giving me a fob off.

So, I am really stuck. Please help! What are your thoughts?

Thanks, I really appreciate your time.

Check the hardware differences. If it's the same hardware you're good to go. why wouldn't Korean drivers work?

Thanks for the reply! One year and three days after I posted! LOL

For the record, the OS change over worked perfectly.
