I wouldn't overclock your laptop. If you're missing parts of the character skins, it's driver related, not speed.
This is most likely either a driver issue, or an OS issue. I've read about problems with Vista and the game, but I also know that the game asks you to load specific drivers. That usually means there is an issue that is addressed with newer drivers that the game needs to operate correctly.
I've seen strings here describing how to get newer drivers installed for the m9750, try that and use the latest drivers and your issue will likely be resolved.
Also, you can find the forum for Crysis on the manufacturers website. They likely have other people with the same issue there, so it's a good place to look for solutions.
Also, if there are any patches for the game, make sure you've got them.
Crysis runs fine on my m9700 on medium settings at 1280 x 800, so it should run fine on a single 7950gtx.
