when are these babies out in the UK and how much would they respectively cost in GBP ?? wild guesses are as welcome as educated ones!

shit i forgot to think out loud, hope these bastards are customizable to SLI...mmmm...SLI 8800 in a laptop..must be visible from space with a heatcam...

They are set to be out the first quarter of 2008. There was a leak of a configurator of these systems, apparently they gonna be a little bit more than a current M9750 fully kitted out...that is a M17X fully kitted. I tried with the configurator and I came just a tad over 2k with everything on full, except just a 120gb hd at 7,200rpm. Hope this helps, and sorry if this info is not fully accurate. I hopefully will be getting one....they looks the dogs!

I'm guessing with everything maxed out on the m17x probably $5000 minimum. The m15x probably less, but still a ton of $$$. You might have to sell a kidney.

The only thing that sucks is that you are losing the great form factor of the m9700/m9750. First off the placement of all of the USB connections and firewire and having most in the back made it a decent setup. Let alone the fact that the heat displacement is phenomenal and leaves the keyboard cool and nice to the touch. Only the back of the laptop gets hot an for a reason.

I just wish I could test these new platforms out before I purchased. I doubt that Hammerhead or Shazza will be purchasing either of these form factors anytime soon and their input is the main reason why I purchased an m9700 in the first place. Without their blessing I don't think I could purchase one of these newer alienware laptops and know that no matter the problem it is a purchase well worth me busting my ass at work to afford it.

I'm thinking of holding out, and waiting how the new lappies run from other people experiences before buying the new m15x or m17x right when it comes out.

I've had horrible experiences with buying computers.

If we can get Alienware to allow either or both Shazza or Hammerhead to test these platforms then I think they will get truly honest opinions because the both of them do not comprimise when using their mobile systems. They tell it how it is and will not side with any company just because they have a preference. In fact I think they could stand to sell their opinions to the masses if the general manufacturers would send them systems to test out. And dammit they are thorough in their findings.

yeah they could send me one to test I will tell them what i think of the computer and if i like the placements of ports and overall design....

Exactly Frankus. After using the m9700 I'm a bit biased because it is amazing. I'm not talking about Alienware, I'm talking about the actual case that Alienware used to place all the goodies into and made into a maniacal machine.

I know for a fact that I could get a very good representation of what is a great mobile platform after using what has to be the best to date in terms of functionality.

LOL ... I just caught up with this thread. Thanks for the thought, basicvisual - it would be lovely to get a nice new notebook for review. I definitely think they should send Hammerhead one!

Any news on this?

I hope they move on it soon. I'm hurting for a new lapotp. My 9860 is about to fall apart into a heap of computer parts.
