Dell replaced my M170 with an M1710 BUT...

So I just received my replacement for my M170 because it was overheating, the specs are:

M1710 Black Version
T7600 Centrino, 2.33, 4MB
Nvidia 7950 GTX 512MB
8x DVD+/-RW
250GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
2Gb RAM

Kickass upgrade, only problem is my M170 had a 7200rpm HD and this one only has a 5400rpm HD. Should I call tech support and complain?

what was the size of the HD? 250GB is sweet upgrade, and I dont think they have 7.2k for it. I would just thank god you even have such specs.

Yeah, I was thinking that too but will it kill my gaming performance having a 5400 instead of a 7200?

LOL, no. i think you got the good end of the stick bud.

the seek time on most of those 250's are almost just as good as the 100gb 72ks matched.

Congrats on a sweet upgrade there

I have to chime in too. Killer deal. Congrats.

That is a great replacement! Look at it like this, if the hard drive just isn't up to snuff (which I've heard that they're just as good as smaller, faster drives), then just replace the drive later on. If you complain about, they'll hold the system up even longer. Hell, you can put that drive in an external case as a backup! Killer deal though, no matter how you look at it.

i guess be glad you got that upgrade i am sure they could have just swapped parts

Sweet replacement dude! I got my Gen2 replacement a month or so ago and you got a WAYYY better deal than I... especially in the processor department
