I'm so far not too excited for penryn, yeah they OC real well, but from what tests have shown is that at stock speeds, you see as much of a real life increase as you'll see, no matter how high you OC. I remember some test showed FPS in game from stock to 4ghz and all of them were about the same :[

lol don't build another one through them. Go through Newegg. Learn ot build it yourself. It's not a difficult process & it is very rewarding putting it all together.

If you are concerned about not knowing how to do something we will be here to help

And FYI, most people don't have issues with the P5K & QC's. I think your system is just one huge glob of issues rolled into a $1,500 pricetag. G makes good MB though, so I can't say anything bad about that

Woohoo final fix failed, time to give shit to them until they rebuild my computer for me. Never thought it would come to wanting them to fail at fixing the system.

Also sol, my problem is that I think trying to argue my money back is going to be more of a pain in the ass than I want at this point, soon enough mid term week will be arriving, I've still got to make another $750 investment (50% of TV + accessories cost) in the next couple weeks, and I don't think they're going to give up their grip on my money. I mean when you take into consideration of the cost of a lawyer anyway, it just ends up defeating the purpose. Plus I'm sure before I get out of HS I'll still have a need to build my own

well, wait to find out whats up with your comp first....As for OC'ing, I had a p5n - e and it just wouldn't overclock to save my life, could have been the 500 watt power supply, I don't know, I just know that everytime i'd try it, it wouldn't reboot, then i'd have to try again about 40-50 times.

I have a gigabyte ds4, I love it, great bored, looks bad a##...Also I got some NewEgg Lanfest memory, which has LEDs in it and its just freaking sweet looking.

I honestly LOVE my computer, at first Donkey my PSU went out and like you I just wanted another one, but once I replaced the PSU / MOBO / 8800Ultra I LOVEEEE it, its all black, with big chrome cpu cooler, black with yellow racing stripes PSU and a big A## 8800 ultra, and it only set me back like 1600 minus like 120 in rebates.

I literally will just open up the side panel and stair at it for like 20 minutes, kinda like some people do with car engines, its just so darn pretty.

I look into my TT all the time too half the time I leave the side panel off to adore it while I'm bored not playing a game or anything, although I don't have as many pretty things as you. I do have some UV lights though and cable sleeve all my stuff with UV reactive material

500 watt PSU, 8800 & a QC OC, not a good combination. And as he said, he had a completely different MB lol. The P5K's are well known for their OC capability.

I think I'm going to make a jump to the gigabyte motherboard either way, I've heard they too are good at OC'ing and to be honest something is definitely limiting the OC as of right now anyway.

Anyway, do you guys have any other ideas as for parts on the new build? I posted what I think I'm getting above, but it's open to discussion

I don't have too many options on when, I think the company will want to start build progress ASAP and I'm alright with the 8800GT, probably gonna keep it for at least a year before replacing it.

What you've got in your new list looks good, pdonket. I agree, it's not worth the hassle to try to get a refund if they are willing to build you a new machine.

I wonder if there is something wrong with the Vista disk they gave you? You shouldn't be having that much trouble with Vista with a one-video card system. Make sure they give you a new OS disk as well. I'm running Vista with the extreme gamer sound card, and all works well.

looks like they're getting reluctant on replacing it as they find that the HD is the problem. Even offered a free upgrade to an 8800GT and HD replacement.

Too bad I'm not in the mood and refused for a build under my conditions. Hope they don't keep pushing because I'm a softy

Also shaz, thanks for the idea of a new vista disc, gonna ask them when they come back into the office about that.

Yeah, well after 2 months of essentially abusing a customer, and then offering the free rebuild of the system, if they backed out now I'd still bash their name to hell and back for lying to appease me.

I know their offer is a good deal, but so far their advice/tries to fix it have done nothing plus there are a few things they released just after i purchased anyway that i wanted, such as the thermal right HSF, the G0 6600, stuff like that.

I mean, if you were in my situation that for 3 months out of 4 that you owned the system, it was under maintenance either by myself or in their factory (factory for 1 month) I think you'd see it differently. I wanted all my money back really, that would make me happiest, but because they won't do that I just want a system that doesn't seem to be a lemon.

well let us know what they end up doing!

Ahh wonderful, CEO backs out on his promise because he doesn't feel it's "fair". Not a very good marketing decision.

I am telling you...with the customer service they are providing I would file a CC dispute ASAP. I'm not kidding. do you really want to stay with a company that has treated you this way up to now?

So far they have sold you a defective machine, held it for a month "repairing" it, ten returned it in a non-functional state & are under the impression they owe you nothing for all your hassles.

This is just going to get worse. Be proactive, show them you aren't going to be walked over. If it was me they would be in a world of hurt right now. Customer service reps hate me.
