Hello! I am new to these forums and couldn't find a support section for IBM/Lenovo, so I am posting here. Please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong area.

I want to buy a ThinkPad T41 that comes with Windows XP pre-installed. I am not in love with the fact that the 40 GB hard drive is pre-partitioned, with the "hidden" part containing the restoration software (it doesn't come with a CD/DVD to restore). Here is my question...

I want to repartition the hard drive so that Windows sits on the C drive, my data sits on the D drive, and possibly have an E drive for restoration. Is this possible without having to go out and buy Windows XP Pro CD?

Reason being is that I want to use the hard drive space for storage, without having to worry about wiping it out should I restore the computer (MP3s, video, other miscellaneous files). I don't want to use my SanDisk USB drive for storage, because it is only 1GB in size.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
