Sony Vaio FZ

Thread Starter
So i've come to the point where I will need a laptop for school. I've looked at some laptops, namely apple macbooks, dell inspirons/xps line, toshiba sattelites, and I believe that the sony Vaio FZ series (more specifically the Sony Vaio FZ260) will be the best for me. But before I make an order, I wanted to know what all of you thought. Your definately smarter than most websites with people who place opinions on laptops that they own (saying it's the best just because they own it) or from people who have no idea what they're talking about. I was wondering if you guys could answer some of the following questions as well as you possibly can.

1) Does anyone own a Sony Vaio FZ 260? what are your opinions on it?

2) Am i getting a good deal with Sony? Will i be regretting this later?

3) For college, will this be a good laptop?

Personally I will be using this as a notebook for college, and basically as a desktop replacement. My parents will be taking my original desk top, and so I will be using my laptop around 90% of the time, if not all the time. My budget is around $1400-$1800, and I live in Canada. I won't be using this for gaming BUT you never know, i might install a game eventually for those times i'm incredibly bored.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you have any input whatsoever i would really appreciate it. Thank you.

You can't go wrong with a MacBook or with a Sony...

I have had several Mac notebooks and all were good...but not the lightest weight...

Have had several Sony's too and have been happy with them as well...

Also, have had good luck with a few Toshiba's too....

Part of the selection just depends upon what is really important to you in terms of usage; performance or light weight or small size or display size, etc....

For me, I tend now towards lightweight and relatively small size laptops (11" display or less...) but that's just my personal preferences.

A heavy gamer-type would likely not like my choices....

So, there's no one answer for everyone....but there are better choices the clearer you are about what your preferences/needs are....

Hope this makes sense....

what are you needing it for? when it comes to a sony laptop you can get more for less in other brand names, and get more build quality

and off topic to you ^ which color is that EEEpc you have for sale?
